Dark Red Lands The Hat-Trick

Dark Red

Dark Red headed to Chester on the back of a win in a Chelmsford handicap and a win from out of the handicap in the City and Suburban at Epsom. Having been gelded in 2015 the son of Dark Angel has looked a reformed character. He was drawn badly in stall ten but Silvestre De Sousa was positive on him and before long he was settled tracking the leaders. It was only a sensible gallop but he possesses tactical speed and he was travelling noticably well throughout the race. Silvestre angled him out entering the straight and he won cosily from the rallying Felix De Vega with Perfect Cracker keeping on for third.

Our gelding won this race off of a mark of 90 and cannot be raised too highly for this performance by the handicapper as he only won by a neck with one length back to the third horse. We hope his new official mark will be high enough to allow him to get into the Wolverton at Royal Ascot off of a light weight although he would not take his chance if the ground turned out to be very quick there.

Congratulations once more to Mr Arculli who is a big supporter of La Grange and is having a fine season so far. The stable remains in good form and it is down to everyone's hard work. It is great to have some nice horses flying the flag at the bigger meetings and we hope it can continue throughout 2016.
