Classic joy for La Grange thanks to

Fri 04 June 2010

SNOW FAIRY gave trainer Ed Dunlop a second Oaks triumph at Epsom when she produced a brilliant finish under jockey Ryan Moore.
The champion rider was in an inspired mood as he brought the daughter of Intikhab from towards the rear to hit the front with just yards to go.

Snow Fairy returned the 9/1 winner by a neck from Meeznah and it was the first time that Moore had tasted domestic Classic glory.

The Classic success followed Dunlop's victory on exactly the same stage six years ago with Ouija Board.

It was a joyous moment for all the La Grange team - not least for Dunlop who raised his arms aloft as his charge nailed a neck win. Dunlop was quick to thank owner Cristina Patino, who chose to supplement Snow Fairy at a cost of £20,000 for the 1m 4f fillies' Classic after she won the Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood last month.

The trainer also paid tribute to Moore after his heroics in the saddle. The jockey sat patiently out the back as they went a fierce pace upfront early. He then weaved his way through aboard Snow Fairy bringing her towards the inner rail as they approached the final furlong. She responded gamely to nip between Aviate and Ramoush before collaring Remember When and Meeznah as the line loomed.

Dunlop said: "This is amazing and thank you to Mrs Patino for letting us supplement her, I thought Ryan gave her a superb ride. To win an Oaks with her is quite amazing. We had doubts about her staying but we knew that she is very tough and that she can quicken."

"I must also thank my staff for doing a fantastic job."
