Blushes Holds off Fred at Chelmsford

Fri 16 September 2016

Blushes headed to Chelmsford for the 0-60 ten furlong handicap on the back of a second to Reaver over an extended mile at Windsor. He has gone very close in two competitive handicaps since and so she looked to hold every chance on the form book. Jim Crowley soon had her settled towards the rear of the field and he nursed her into the race as the field approached the final bend. As she made her challenge she was briefly hampered but the daughter of Siyouni soon found her stride and wore down the leader Spinning Rose close home, comfortably holding the staying on Just Fred by a neck.

This was a pleasing win from our filly and the way she saw out the ten furlongs suggested that she could stay twelve furlongs in the future. The handicapper will nudge her up for this win but he cannot be too hard on her as it was an uncompetitive 0-60 affair and the second and third were in close proximity to her.

Congratulations to Blushes’ owners The Sagacious Lot who have now had four winners during the 2016 campaign. We hope your filly can win again after she has been reassessed. It is great to finally get another winner on the board after a lot of near misses in recent weeks.
