Arc a possibility for brave Snow Fairy

Sun 04 September 2011

Who knows what the ground will be like in Paris on the first Sunday in October but Ed Dunlop has revealed that the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is "under serious consideration" for our globe-trotting superstar SNOW FAIRY, following her brave effort against So You Think in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

Reflecting on Snow Fairy's gallant half length defeat, the boss said: "I was as proud as anybody could possibly be of a horse without winning. Snow Fairy produced a very good performance, arguably a career best, and she never stopped trying all the way to the line."

"We knew that she had come on again since the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood but it was so nice to see her right back to her best. She will be back in the yard this afternoon and we will see how quickly she recovers from her Leopardstown exertions but the plan is to have one more race in Europe, either the Prix de l'Opera or the Arc at Longchamp or the Champion Stakes at Ascot, and it will be ground dependent. If conditions were suitable, we would be very tempted by the Arc, but we will keep our options open and monitor the weather charts and then she will head back to Japan and Hong Kong for the races that she won last year."

"It helps so much that Snow Fairy thrives on the travelling and it is a fillies only race in Japan which suits us well and on the way home she will sign off at Sha Tin at Hong Kong's big international meeting. You can't get off the chair for every dance and we have decided to sit out the Breeders Cup."
