An Across The Card Double

Sat 02 April 2016

Capricious Cantor started April off in great style for La Grange when winning the ten furlong maiden at Lingfield yesterday evening. She broke well from her draw in stall two and Silvestre De Sousa soon had her in an ideal position tracking the favourite. Keen momentarily the champion jockey soon had her settled and the daughter of Cape Cross got an ideal run up the inside coming around the home bend. Our filly hit the front just over one furlong out and everytime Pursuitofthestars fought back she found more despite running green in front.

There may not have been a lot of depth to the maiden but the second caught the eye on her last run at two and this trip looked sure to suit her. Both fillies look like they will be able to move up to twelve furlongs in time and we hope Capricious Cantor can continue to progress and prove to be smart. Congratulations to her owners Alec Leopold and Leanne Norman who were cheering her on from Australia, I hope it is the first of many successes for your filly in 2016.

Manjaam had won previously at Chelmsford over one mile and he stepped up in trip to contest the nine and a half furlong 0-75 three year old only handicap. We expected him to improve for the extra distance and were quietly confident that the son of Tamayuz could account for his seven rivals. He broke well and was soon in an ideal position tracking the leaders and travelling well through his race before getting the perfect run through to win cosily by two and a half lengths.

He was moving back down in grade having previously won a 0-85 contest but it did look a competitive contest for a 0-75. He continues to look more professional with every run and he has a very willing attitude which is fantastic to see. We hope he can continue to progress and make his mark on the turf once the ground starts to dry up. Congratulations to Mr Mohammed Jaber on his colt's victory, we hope he continues to do well for you during the rest of 2016.
