DOB: 23 Apr 2016
Oasis Dream x Independence (Selkirk)
Owner: The MHS Racing Partnership

This colt is a son of the speedy Oasis Dream. He won the Middle Park at two and beat Choisir in the July Cup at three before going on to win the Nunthorpe. He has produced the exceptionally fast Muhaarar who has his first foals on the ground in 2017 as well as the multiple Group 1 winner Midday.

His dam is Independence. She was a smart mare and won the Sun Chariot over a mile for Ed Dunlop racing back in 2001. She has produced four Black Type performers with the most notable being the Eclipse winner Mount Nelson who has gone on to stand at stud and produced this year's Champions Day Sprint winner Librisa Breeze.

Valence made his racecourse debut in late September at Newmarket, although he proved green and backward. He was much more clued up when third at Wolverhamtpon on his second start, before finishing a creditable fifth at Chelmsford. On the back of that third run he has been given a first mark of 70, which doesn't look lenient but hopefully isn't too unrealistic either. He will hopefully develop into a good sort as he goes over further next year - it is worth remembering that his full-brother Monitor Closely was placed in the St Leger and won the Great Voltigeur.

Valence has been earmarked to return to the track at Nottingham on the 10th of April in a mile and a quarter three-year-old handicap that is traditionally very competitive.
