Sir Gnet

Bay Gelding
DOB: 09 Apr 2014
Galileo x Ecoutila (Rahy)
Owner: Mr Quentin Zheng

Sir Gnet is by the great Galileo, the 2001 Derby winner whose deeds at stud scarcely need mentioning. A short list of his best progeny includes FrankelNew Approach, Australia, Nathaniel, Rip Van Winkle etc.

His dam is the unraced Rahy mare Ecoutila, who has produced four winners so far and three have racing post ratings in excess of 100. Her son Surfrider won a Gr.3 over seven-furlongs whilst her daughter Enticement won two Listed contests for Sir Michael Stoute. Loyalty, her son by Medicean, is a 17-time winner and has been Listed-placed.

Sir Gnet was second three times in 2017 and knocked on the door on many occasions. He was also second, beaten just a neck, in a competitive Wolverhampton handicap in May 2018, but injury sidelined him for much of the rest of the year.

However, we had him back in work early after the turn of the year this season, and he has been in good form on the AW, breaking his duck under a terrific Dan Muscutt ride at Lingfield in March. Horse and jockey have formed a good partnership at home and on the track, and we have found the key to how to ride him. Now we have found out what makes Sir Gnet tick, it is hoped that he can continue to pay his way in similar company.
