Kodiac x Margarita (Marju)
Owner: The Hon R J Arculli

Reddiac is a daughter of the record-breaking two-year-old sire Kodiac, and she made her debut in June on the July course at Newmarket. She showed up nicely for the first half of the race, won by the subsequent Gr.2 Coventry Stakles winner Calyx, before tiring late on. Hopefully she can build on that effort. She is out of Margarita, a full-sister to the mighty five-time Gr.1 winner Soviet Song and a half-sister to the Triumph Hurdle winner Penzance. Margarita is by Marju, the damsire of dozens of pattern winners including Ribchester, Marcel, Marsha and Ribbons (the last two both being near relations of Reddiac incidentally).

Reddiac was an expensive breeze-up purchase, and he made his racecourse debut in the Newmarket maiden won by subsequent Coventry Stakes winner Calyx in June. He improved singificantly on that effort to finish a three length third behind subsequent Vintage Stakes winner Dark Vision at Yarmouth on his second start, but disappointed in four runs thereafter.

As a result he now finds himself rated just 66 (down from an opening mark of 71), so he looks thrown in on his Dark Vision form. Hopefully a winter on his back and a gelding operation will enable him to fulfil his undoubted potential as a three-year-old.
