Red Avenger

Bay Gelding
DOB: 11 May 2010
War Front x Emotional Rescue (Smart Strike)

By leading US stallion War Front, Red Avenger is out of a half-sister to the US Grade 2 winner Powis Castle and to US stakes winner Star Of Goshen, herself the dam of the Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof The Nile, sire of the legendary American Pharoah.

In a career spanning four seasons at La Grange, Red Avenger combined stacks of ability with a quirky edge, winning five of his 29 starts and amassing just shy of £150,000 in prize money.

A progressive three-year-old in 2013, his finest hour came at Goodwood the following summer when he landed the Betfred Mile in the dying strides under a power-packed Jimmy Fortune, first-time blinkers working sufficiently well to afford him a short-head success.

He won again in 2015, sharing the spoils with the Alan Swinbank-trained Eutropius in a thrilling finish at Newcastle, but he was unable to recapture that form in subsequent starts and was sent to Gary Moore in the hope he would be rejuvenated by a change of scenery.
