Native Khan (FR)

Grey Colt
DOB: 06 Apr 2008
Azamour (IRE) x Viva Maria (FR) (Kendor (FR))

Native Khan is a good-looking colt by Azamour who was bought at the Tattersalls Breeze-Up Sales. He is a half-brother to numerous winners and is out of a half-sister to the Listed scorer Ximb.

Native Khan made a successful introduction at Newmarket, winning a 7f July Course maiden by three and a quarter lengths. The striking visual impression he created there was cemented on his next two starts, winning the Group 3 Solario Stakes by half a length before finishing fourth in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy.

Having appeared the sort to improve again at three, Native Khan made a successful reappearance in the Group 3 Craven Stakes when beating Libranno by two lengths. He then ran in one of the most extraordinary renewals of the 2000 Guineas, running on stoutly to claim third behind the imperious Frankel, who made just about all in the most striking performance in the history of the race.

With middle-distances promising to suit Native Khan well, he headed to the Derby on his first foray beyond a mile. Having travelled into the race well, Native Khan stuck to his task to be beaten under three lengths by Pour Moi. He ran once more than summer, finishing seventh in the Irish Derby, and he would run twice more as a four-year-old when trained by John Oxx.
