Hold To Ransom (USA)

Bay Filly
DOB: 10 Apr 2000
Red Ransom x Wassifa (Sure Blade)

Hold To Ransom is from the family of the Group 2 Lockinge Stakes winner and Derby runner-up Most Welcome alongside the Group 2 Sun Chariot Stakes winner Topsy. She is a half-sister to five-time US winner Danceprincessdance, and she is out of the Listed-placed Wassifa.

Hold To Ransom acquitted herself with credit against the best of her generation as a juvenile before improving again at three. She finished an encouraging fourth in the Group 3 Nell Gwynn Stakes before being narrowly beaten in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes by High Dubai.

After a disappointing run in the Mussidora Stakes, Hold To Ransom then won The Sandringham Stakes in fine style at Royal Ascot. It was obviously a great thrill to have a Royal Ascot winner, especially for the Buhaleeba family.

Hold To Ransom's run in the Falmouth Stakes was disappointing, so we decided to take her to Canada and run her in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes over 1m1f. She finished mid-division having lacked cover from a wide draw and the steady early pace made it virtually impossible to make-up significant ground from the rear.

After her run in the Sun Chariot Stakes, she was sent to Neil Drysdale in America. Unfortunately she suffered a career-ending injury and was retired to stud.
