Habaayib

Bay Filly
DOB: 04 Mar 2007
Royal Applause x Silver Kestrel (USA) (Silver Hawk (USA))
Owner: Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum

Habaayib was purchased from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and she is bred on a strong US bloodline being by Royal Applause out of a 7f winner and from the further family of dual Group 1 runner-up Green Perfume.

Habaayib made an explosive start as a two-year-old, winning second time out in a 5f Nottingham maiden. She then went to Royal Ascot and, despite being sent off at 16-1, showed all her preocious speed to rout a 22-strong field in the Group 3 Albany Stakes, beating Lillie Langtry by a length and a quarter under Richard Hills.

Habaayib ran twice more in the summer of 2009, finishing second to Misheer in the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes before running no sort of race in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, after which she returned to Shadwell Stud for her winter break.

As a three-year-old, Habaayib was campaigned as a Classic conteder and she confirmed her class when finishing runner-up in the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury, a traditional stepping stone to the 1000 Guineas.

The Rowley Mile beckoned next and Habaayib was far from disgraced in finishing eleventh behind Special Duty, but she failed to recapture her earlier form in two subsequent runs and was retired to be covered.
