New Approach x All For Laura (Cadeaux Genereux)
Owner: Dr Johnny Hon

Global Express was a 175,000gns purchase at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. He is a son of the Derby winner New Approach who won five times at Gr.1 level in total. He has produced numerous top-class animals since retiting to stud, including the 2,000 Guineas winner Dawn Approach, the Oaks winner Talent and, most recently of course, the Derby winner Masar

The dam All For Laura has produced Gr.2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner Misheer, who is herself the dam of the Listed winner Mistrusting. The family extends back to the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes winner and sire First Trump and the Gr.1 July Cup and Gr.1 Prix de l'Abbaye winner Mr Brooks. All For Laura won her maiden over five-furlongs at two and was twice fourth in Listed company over six-furlongs.

Global Express made his debut in a mile contest at Salisbury in October, travelling nicely before running on in eyecatching fashion for a good third. It was impossible not to be encouraged by the effort, although the form has been delivering mixed messages in the meantime.

He went a little weak in the immediate aftermath of the race, but strengthened as the winter went on. He returned to the track with a disappointing performance at Ripon in April, though the trip and track might not have been ideal. He was out again shortly afte and showed more zip to finish third over a mile and a quarter at Pontefract.

We are still working him out, trying to gauge what sort of trip and track suits him best. However, he now has a handicap rating of 74, so hopefully we can a suitable openings for him.
