Ex Hector's Girl

Bay Colt
DOB: 06 Apr 2017
Roderic O'Connor x Hector's Girl (Hector Protector)

This cracking son of Roderic O’Connor looks like a lovely prospect for the second half of the 2019 season.

He is out of the Hector Protector mare Hector’s Girl, who won as a two-year-old, finished third in the Nell Gwyn and then ran in the 1,000 Guineas. Clearly a smart mare, she has passed that ability onto her offspring in no uncertain terms, producing six winners from eight runners, including the Gr.3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes winner Class Is Class.

The sire Roderic O’Connor was notable for winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas under then 17-year-old Joseph O’Brien, as well as finishing second to Frankel in the Dewhurst. An underrated and undervalued stallion, he gets plenty of good winners despite limited opportunities, his best representatives including the Listed winner Connect, the  Gr.3 winner Great Page, the Listed Spring Cup winner Haalick, and a host of leading performers in Brazil.

This youngster is doing everything nicely, and should make a nice two-year-old at some point – but has the size and scope to go on after that too.
