Ex Araqella

Bay Colt
DOB: 17 Mar 2017
Gleneagles x Araqella (Oasis Dream)

This youngster is the product of one of the most talked about young sires of the moment. Gleneagles was a brilliant winner of the 2015 2,000 Guineas for Aidan O'Brien, and also collected top-level triumphs in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes and National Stakes - whilst he was also first past the post in the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

Exceptional racing ability is combined with an impeccable pedigree, as Gleneagles is a son of stallion-maker and legendary sire Galileo out of the Gr.2 winning Storm Cat mare You'resothrilling, and is therefore a full-sibling of the Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Marvellous, dual Gr.1 winning two-year-old Happily and Australian Gr.2 winner and Gr.1 placed The Taj Mahal.

The next generation of his pedigree features the outstanding racehorse and multiple North American Champion Sire Giant's Causeway, Gr.1 producing stallion Freud - who never won above maiden company - and Tumblebrutus, who went on to be a leading sire in South America despite also never winning beyond breaking his maiden. Gleneagles could scarcely be better credentialed for a career in the covering barn therefore, and his first crop of yearlings has turned heads in the auction ring. The average purchase price of his stock sits north of £122,000 at the time of writing, and individual lots have realised as much as 500,000gns.

Adding to the excitement surrounding this March-foaled yearling is a quality tail line. The dam Araqella won twice as a three-year-old at up to a mile, and is a full-sister to the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin winner Aqlaam, who made a tremendous start to his stallion career but sadly died prematurely before his promise was fulfilled. Further pattern performers under the third dam include the much-loved 14-time Group-race winning stayer Persian Punch, the Gr.3 Solario Stakes winner Island Magic and the Listed winners Nine RealmsClassic Punch and Grand Bahama.
